In partnership with Muscatine Community College, the Muscatine Police Department is offering high school and college students ages 14 - 20 the opportunity to learn more about law enforcement through their Junior Police Academy. The five-day training will take place June 8 – 12, 2026 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day. Students will learn what it takes to become a police officer with hands-on lessons and activities, including:

  • Physical Conditioning 
  • OWI processing / Standardized Field Sobriety Testing
  • Muscatine Special Operations Team (SWAT)
  • Crime Scene Investigation
  • K-9 Operations
  • Evidence collection 
  • Medical Training
  • Defensive Tactics

There is no cost to attend and lunch is provided. All high school/college students (ages 14 - 20) are eligible to apply, however space is limited. Preference will be given to juniors and seniors. Those that attend will have an opportunity to earn a $500 scholarship from the Muscatine Police Officers Association and a $500 scholarship from Muscatine Community College (if they choose to continue their education at one of the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.) The deadline to apply is May 1, 2026.
